Headband Crochet Class - Beginner
Product Details

Have you been wanting to learn how to crochet? This class is the perfect place to start!

In this relaxed, beginner-friendly two-session class, you’ll learn the basic stitches and techniques needed to create a beautiful, textured headband using soft alpaca yarn. Meeting for two sessions gives you plenty of time to learn and practice the basics before moving on to the techniques used in the headband.

This project is designed to help you build confidence while creating something you’ll be proud to wear or gift.

We’ll guide you step-by-step through:

  • How to hold your hook and yarn and maintain comfortable tension
  • Making a foundation chain and counting stitches
  • Basic stitches including chain, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet
  • Working in the round
  • Creating texture using half double crochet in the third loop and single crochet in the back loop
  • Recognizing and correcting common beginner mistakes
  • Finishing your project neatly

Session One will focus on learning and practicing the fundamentals of crochet, including how to hold your hook and yarn, maintain tension, make a foundation chain, count stitches, and work the basic crochet stitches needed for the project.

Session Two will build on those skills as you work on your headband and learn the additional stitches and techniques used in the pattern.

By the end of the two sessions, you’ll have started a headband, along with the skills and understanding needed to continue crocheting on your own. Everyone crochets at a different pace, so you may finish your headband at home.

✨ No experience necessary!

Enjoy two cozy, creative afternoons surrounded by fiber, color, and a few laughs along the way.

Included in Fee

One skein of Classic Alpaca Yarn, 100% alpaca, is needed to make the headband and is included in the fee for this class.

You can choose the yarn you'd like to use on the day of class, or browse Classic Alpaca Yarn on our website and include your color choice in the notes when checking out.

Need to Bring (or Purchase With Class)

You will need to bring a Size G – 4.0 mm crochet hook to class. Or you may opt to purchase a hook here and have it ready for you when you come to class, if you wish.

Nice to Have
