This felted purse is handmade using a process called wet felting using alpaca and wool fiber. The shoulder or cross body bag has a silver grey background with splashes of yellow, orange, and fuchsia. It is embellished with locks of mohair, both natural colors and hand dyed. A coordinating button is sewn on top of a scrap of suri alpaca felt. A magnetic snap keeps the purse closed. Complimentary striped fabric was used for the lining that includes a pocket to hold a phone or small items.
The purse measures approximately 8" wide and 7" deep. The cord strap was also wet felted and is 52" in length.
WHAT IS WET FELTING? This bag was created using alpaca and wool fibers and a process called wet felting. This process involves creating fabric from natural fibers using water, heat, soap, and agitation in the form of rubbing and rolling on a textured surface.
