Product Details

In this class you will learn the art of needle felting and how to create a design on a piece of fabric. Choose a design from a handful of patterns or create your own. Learn to transfer a pattern to fabric (if desired), fill in the design with roving, and needle felt the fiber in place. Or skip the pattern and just let the design evolve. We will be working on upholstery fabric samples, some with designs that can potentially be incorporated into the needle felted design that you create. This is a very simple form of needle felting and the sky is the limit when it comes to the design.

FINISHING OPTIONS
You will have the option to needle felt your design within an embroidery hoop, which will also serve as the frame for your finished piece. Finished felted art in its hoop frame can be hung with a ribbon or simply on a nail through the screw at the top of the hoop.

Another option is to make a pillow with your felted design. Two pillow size pieces of upholstery fabric will be provided if this is the option you choose. Sewing and stuffing your pillow together will be up to you to finish on your own.

Other options for finishing are to frame your felted piece, turn it into a wall hanging, or perhaps a book cover. Again, fabric will be provided but finishing will be up to you.

WHAT IS NEEDLE FELTING
Needle felting is the process of using a single barbed needle to repeatedly jab alpaca/wool fibers causing the fiber to tangle and become compact. Both two and three dimensional pieces can be created using this craft.

INCLUDED IN FEE
Fabric, alpaca/wool roving, and use of felting foam and needles during class are included in class fee. A wooden embroidery hoop is provided if you select that option.

CLASS TIME
Class will begin at 1pm and finish about 3pm.
