I’ll be teaching a Bear Needle Felting Class at the farm this weekend. For those of you attending, or trying this at home, I’ve put together a collection of needle felted bears on a Pinterest Board to inspire you! There are needle felted bears of all shapes and sizes and colors and breeds, felted by many talented felting artists. Hope you enjoy!
You can keep your needle felted bear simple but making a roundish shape, adding some ears, a face, and a little bear muzzle. Or you may spend more time adding legs and feet, even clothing and accessories if desired.
There are different needle felting techniques used to create a three-dimensional shape. Some involve building the basic shape with core wool, then wrapping with the finished roving color.
My preference is filling a nylon knee high with alpaca fiber, the seconds and thirds that aren’t used for yarn, then wrapping with the desired colors.
This gives a little more weight to the finished creation and works especially well for larger projects.
Bear Felting Kits are now available with detailed instructions and all the materials you need to make your own little bear!
