Product Details
These Long Suri Alpaca Locks are the prime fiber grown by a suri alpaca named "Rebekah". They are dark brown, which is a natural color, and approximately 8" in length. This fiber has a soft feel and I would consider it to be of medium fineness. These locks are rubber banded together in 1/2 ounce bundles.

Locks are the natural divisions in an animal’s fiber and have been separated from the fleece so are very easy to work with. Suri Locks make gorgeous doll hair. They can also be used in tail or core spinning, carded and spun into beautiful silky yarn, or used in a variety of different felting projects. They also are quite fun to use in knitting and crochet projects.

These locks are unwashed, uncombed, and may have a small amount of vegetable matter in them which should fall out as you work with it. Some dollmakers prefer working with unwashed locks, washing after project is completed or because they prefer doing this themselves. If you send me a message that you'd like the locks washed, I am happy to do that for you. Please allow some extra days for me to do this, and for drying time. Locks may curl up some and arrive looking more compact than pictured. They can easily be combed out, even styled with a flat/curling iron as you would your own hair.

Be aware that there is some waste when combing out locks for rerooting doll hair. A typical Blythe reroot takes about two ounces. These locks can also be left uncombed and sewn into a weft to attach directly onto a doll cap.
