Valentine Frog Felting Class

In this particular needle felting class we’ll be sculpting some long legged frogs with big hearts, out of alpaca wool fiber! Needle felting is an easy-to-learn technique to shape and sculpt natural fiber.  Come and see what you can create with a needle, some fiber, and a little imagination! Instruction, felting tools needed for the class, and materials are provided.

Spring Chick Felting Class

In this class, you will be learning to needle felt a Spring Chick. Needle felting is the process of using a single barbed needle to repeatedly jab alpaca/wool fibers causing the fiber to tangle and become compact into flat pieces or three-dimensional sculptures. No experience required.  Decorate your chick with a scarf, or perhaps a Spring Bonnet!  You will learn techniques to enable you to make other three dimensional figures as well. Cost of class includes materials and use of felting tools needed for project.

Bunny Felting Class

Needle felting is the process of using a single barbed needle to repeatedly jab alpaca/wool fibers causing the fiber to tangle and become compact into flat pieces or three-dimensional sculptures. In this class, taught by Julie Petty, you will be learning to needle felt a Bunny. No needle felting experience required. Limited only by your imagination, each bunny made will have his/her own personality, which makes this class a ton of fun! You will learn techniques to enable you to make other three dimensional figures as well.

Cost of class includes materials and use of felting tools needed for project.

Purse Felting Class

Felted Alpaca Clutch Felted White Alpaca Clutch Felted Alpaca Ipad Case

Design and create a one-of-a-kind felted alpaca purse!  In this class we will using the wet felting method which is done using raw washed and carded fiber.  Make a template of whatever size and shape purse or case you’d like, then add warm, soapy water and rub to create a lovely and durable fabric.  No knitting is involved in this type of felting, and experience is required to have a great time creating a one-of-a-kind piece.  Please bring a towel.

Wet Felting Fancy Flower Class

Wet Felted Flower Class

In this class you will be introduced to basic wet felting techniques as you learn to make pretty felted flowers from layers of beautiful shaded felt that you will create.  These fancy flowers are perfect for wardrobe and accessory embellishments, table decor, jewelry and more.  Locks of fiber can be needle felted on after your flower has dried, if desired. Beaded stamens or felted buttons can also be used to add more detail and some sparkle.   This class includes materials to make as many flowers as you want during our class time.  You will see how you can make more flowers at home with fiber and just a few tools. No felting experience is needed to succeed in this beginner-level class.

Mitten Felting Class

Wet Felted Mittens ClassWet felting is one of several methods which can produce felt from alpaca and other animal fibers. Warm soapy water is applied to layers of fiber placed at 90 degree angles to one another. Repeated agitation and compression cause the fibers to hook together into a single piece of fabric.  In this class you will be wet felting a pair of the warmest mittens you have ever worn.  Felting around a resist, you will be amazed at how a mass of fiber magically becomes  an article of clothing  custom fit to your own hand … no knitting or crocheting required!  Please bring a towel, a pair of pointed scissors, a Sharpie, and a dispenser filled with liquid soap.  All other materials will be provided.

Pumpkin Felting Class

This class is a simpler version of the Pumpkin Faces Felting Class.  You will be learning the basics of needle felting a three dimensional object.  Needle felting is a fun craft and part of the fun is creating something out of a mass of fiber just by poking with a needle, and in just one sitting!  All materials are included, felting tools and foam surface to work on are provided for use in class.

Snowman Felting Class

Needle Felted Snowman

Needle felting is the process of repeatedly pushing a barbed needle into a mass of fiber, agitating, compressing, and locking the fibers together into a more dense mass of fiber. No experience necessary. No knitting, no crocheting. I think of it as being like sculpting, with fiber and a needle, instead of clay.

In this class you will learn to needle felt a three dimensional snowman out of alpaca fiber, complete with whatever accessories you decide to dress him/her in. All materials are included, felting tools and foam surface to work on are provided for use in class. This is a fun class and everyone’s snowman turns out so different than the others.

Christmas Felting Workshop

Felting in Cookie Cutters This class is an introduction to needle felting.  No experience necessary… no knitting or crocheting required!  We will be felting Christmas Cookie Ornaments  (snowmen, candy canes, gingerbread men, mittens, santas) and Christmas Ball Ornaments.  Go at your own pace, get creative, have some holiday fun!  All materials are included.  Tools and foam forms needed will be furnished for the class, and available for purchase for more felting fun at home.  Fun for groups!

Learn to Crochet Class

Snuggle Headbands

Get started with crochet!  Whether you used to crochet years ago and need a refresher, or are just learning, this is the class for you!  You will learn how to read a pattern, how to hold a hook, and the basic crochet stitches to make a headband. You will learn to chain stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, and join two edges together.  If time allows, you will also be shown how to make a flower for your headband.  One skein of Snuggle yarn is needed and is included in the fee for this class.

Swizzle Ribbed Scarf Crochet Class

 Swizzle Alpaca Ribbed ScarfThis is easily a beginner’s class.  Taking the Learn to Crochet Class is helpful, as is being somewhat comfortable with tension and consistency of stitches, but the pattern we will using for this class is easy and works up quickly.  We will be making the Ribbed Scarf out of our Swizzle Yarn, your choice of color.  The pattern is here.  We will be using a chain stitch and half-double crochet, that’s it.  You will be learning more about how to read a pattern.  You will also be learning about blocking which will give your scarf a professional looking finish.  One skein of yarn is all that is needed for this pattern and is included in the fee for this class.

Spring Petals Scarf Crochet Class

You know the basics of crochet and are ready to take on a different project.  We will be making this Spring Petals Scarf out of our Astral Yarn, your choice of color.  The pattern is here.  We will be using a chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and half-double crochet.  You will be learning to read a pattern, if you don’t already know.  You will also be learning about blocking which will show off the beauty of the lacy stitches in this pattern and make your finished scarf look professionally done.  Two skeins of yarn are included in the fee for this class.

Alpaca Rug Crocheting Class

Alpaca Rug Crochet Class

In this class we will be crocheting a small circular rug approximately 20″ across, and finish it in just a few hours time.  Working with rug yarn made from the fiber of our own alpacas, it will be the softest, cushiest rug, you’ve ever sunk your bare feet into! Working with a large hook, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can make a rug.  We will be using only a few simple stitches, beginning crocheters are welcome!  Using the same basic pattern that you’ll be learning in this class, you can then make coasters, trivets, chair pads, even pet beds out of rug yarn!

Learn to Knit Class

Bulky Ribbed Gray Snuggle Scarf

In this class for new knitters you will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and weave in ends.  This is the perfect class if you have never knitted or if it has been years since you last picked up needles!  We will be using a bulky yarn, which always makes knitting go quicker, and get started making  the Easy Mistake Stitch Scarf.  This pattern creates a deep and lofty rib that looks like so much more work than it actually is.  We will be using our Snuggle yarn for this project which is included in the cost of the class.

Drop Stitch Alpaca Scarf Class

You’ve learned how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, and now you’re ready for a more advanced knitting project.  In this class you’ll be learning a horizontal drop stitch.  It is quite beautiful, and easy to knit!  When it comes to creating dropped stitches in your knitting, you gain the great advantage of adding an endless amount of variety by intentionally dropping your stitches!  We will be knitting the scarf pictured above using our Swizzle Yarn, in the color of your choice. Two skeins of yarn are included in the fee for this class.

SPINNING

Drop Spindle Class

Drop Spindle Class

In this class you will learn to spin roving into yarn on a drop spindle, and gain the skills to spin a singles yarn. You will learn spinning related terms and leave with instructions on how to ply your singles yarn.  A drop spindle and two ounces of roving is included in the class fee.  By the time you are finished with this class, you will be well on your way to spinning your own hand spun yarn!
